Will you buy a poem from your friend for $800 000 renminbi?

Excellent movies

Recently, I rented the "JFK A Presidency Revealed" and the "Angela's
Ashes" from Blockbuster and they are both very enjoyable movies.

JFK is a documentary film programmed by the History Channel. I guess
the double DVD may be available for free at public library as well. It
features John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United
States. It's amazing to see how a weak person (physically disabled
since his childhood) came with a strong mind, and how his 1000 days in
the office (before he was assassinated) made him one of the greatest US
Presidents so far. I truly admire him. Here are a few
points of lesson learnt:
1) It is very important to READ, to absorb knowledge and to gain
wisdom. JFK is an avid reader. He apparently was the smartest guy among
all the advisers in his office.
2) Accept responsibility, apologize when you do something wrong. (well,
reminded me of Abraham Lincoln's cutting the cherry tree.)
3) You need to have a great family. JFK's fath...

Words, Thoughts and Deeds

A fabulous article about how easily we can be brain-washed by language:

http://www.rbc.com/community/letter/jan_feb1991.html

"The moral of the story is that I don't see
the same things, I don't observe the same events when I change
my English for my French thinking tool. Changing my language
changes me as an observer. It changes my world at the same
                    time."
... I can't agree more when I apply my English-Chinese switch.
